Cobra Harshlands: a new beginning.
The last months, Cobra on Harshlands has been struggling. The number of members dropped dramatically. Several of our oldest members, and highest levels, left us for a variety of reasons.
Newcomers often left because they felt they did not get enough help. In some cases, that was correct, in other cases, the faction was suppposed to do their work for them and if we refused, they left.
The frustration with the long-standing members grew. Helpfullness and friendliness were hard to find and left to the officers. Why else does a faction have them, after all.
Rules were broken, officers were lied to, officers were ignored and all in all, most of the core Cobras were reduced to bosskilling, problemsolving handymen/women, on call 24/7.
On top of that, the quality of our junior members in particular, was very, very poor. Attempts to help them were ignored, attempts to improve their gears taken as if they were owed.
The fun and the friendship that Cobra stood for for a long time, have all but disappeared.
All this is not something of recent weeks, it started long before jofc left for Harshlands.
We tried getting ppl to be more helpfull by setting the example and failed. We tried ppl to be more helpfull by stimulating their own initiatives and failed. And all in all, being a high lvl in Cobra became more of chore than a pleasure.
All that has led us, the core Cobras so to speak, to the following.
We are going to downsize radically. We will kick a lot of ppl. About half of the faction will be left. People that are fun, are looking for friendship, are willing to help, play regularely and know how to play their character. It will be done soon. We want to continue with the ppl that we feel are what Cobra is about: good, friendly and helpfull ppl that are more looking for a fun time playing than just passing time or racing to a high level.
For all of u who will be kicked: we are sorry but we see no other way. We are players too, we play for fun and not with a daily dose of resentment coz we are expected to help almost anybody along at no matter what the cost to ourselves.
For all of u who are not kicked: we think you are what Cobra is about. However, we can imagine that this operation may seem harsh to you. It is. If u feel that u cannot live with it, feel free to go. We will be sorry if u do but feel it is understandable.
We want to build on those who remain the Cobra as it was: a fun, friendly faction where ppl enjoy themselves and each other. Ppl who know how to play and who understand that a faction is more than a handful of officers, to be used at convenience. Ppl who understand that a faction is made by each and every member, no matter the level.
We sincerely hope that all those who are kicked, will find a new home where they will be happy. And that those who remain, will help build once more the Cobra as we know and love it.
Para, Finger, jofc and officers.
